The Film

This silent romantic comedy, released during the rise of sound films, tells the story of Chaplin's iconic "Tramp" character who befriends a blind flower girl and falls in love with her, all while trying to raise enough money for her sight-restoring surgery.
Despite being made in the era of sound films, Chaplin famously chose to keep the film silent, allowing his expressive physical comedy and emotional depth to speak volumes. The film is widely regarded as one of the greatest ever made.
